YUCCA VALLEY LIBRARIAN LINDA GROVE RETIRES

The longtime, popular librarian at the Yucca Valley Library is retiring. Reporter Dan Stork wises Lynda Grove the best…
Longtime Yucca Valley Librarian Lynda Grove retired last month. Lynda went back to college after her four children were in school, and graduated from college in 1986. She started working as a part time Library Assistant at Yucaipa Library, to make extra money to fund study for a Masters Degree in Anthropology. But she found that she loved the library, so when the opportunity to be the Branch Manager at Mentone Library came up she applied and was selected. Lynda was Manager at Mentone for seven years and then accepted a promotion to Yucca Valley Branch as the Children’s Librarian in 1993, where, she said, “I loved working with the children.” In 2006 she was promoted to Branch Manager, Librarian II. Lynda says: “I am not planning another career. I do plan to plunge into my hobby – volunteering.” She also plans to travel with her husband, learn gardening, get a goldfish, have fun with her six grandchildren, shop, and have fun.” No new branch manager has been selected as yet.
