Yucca Valley Lady Trojans win third straight game and first round win over Redlands

The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team won their third straight game with a 52 – 42 first round win over the tournament host Redlands East Valley Wildcats last night (December 4) in Redlands. 

The Yucca girls jumped out to a 25-15 halftime lead only to see the Wildcats pull ahead 28-27 in the third quarter before the Lady Trojans regained control of the game in the fourth quarter to pull away and improve their record to 3-2 on the season. 

Senior Tayla Monroy led all scorers with 14 points. She was followed by sophomore Kamea Medina with 13 points and senior  Syhelie Gilmore with 12 points. Junior Teagan Moon and sophomore Nahveah Baclig both added 4 points while sophomore Kennedy Golden sparked the fourth quarter surge with 3 defensive steals. 

The girls return to action tonight in a second round game against Bloomington HS at Redlands East Valley HS. 

Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
