Yucca Valley Lady Trojans undefeated in Desert Valley League, beating Cathedral City 61-8

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team moved one game closer to an undefeated Desert Valley League season, scorching Cathedral City HS by a 61-8 score Monday afternoon (January 29) in Cathedral City.

Senior Cadence Tarrant again led the charge knocking down 19 points, pulling down 11 rebounds and passing out 6 assists. Junior CeCe Gilmore put together a double double scoring 12 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Freshman Kamea Medina was a spark coming off the bench to add 12 points and fellow freshman Nahveah Baclig chipped in 8 points. Sophomore Lyrics Thompson contributed 4 points while junior Tayla Monroy and sophomore Teagan Moon each hit a 3 point basket to complete the scoring.

The victory upped the teams league record to 13-0 and overall record to 23-4. The girls will try to complete their unblemished league record when they host the second place Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles on tomorrow (January 31). Tip off is set for 530pm in Trojan Gym with Senior Night festivities at halftime for Cadence Tarrant and the YVHS Trojan Cheerleading team.
