The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team returned home to Trojan Gym Thursday night (December 14) after back-to-back road games and scored a 78-34 victory over Banning High School for their sixth straight win overall and fourth straight in Desert Valley League play.
The team stifled the Broncos early using pressure defense and solid outside shooting including 5 first half three point baskets to open up a 43-16 halftime lead.
Junior Cadence Tarrant paved the way scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, she was followed by sophomore Tayla Monroy who knocked down 4 three point baskets and 16 points. Senior Ashley Lowe went 8 for 9 from the free throw line and scored 15 points. Senior Malia Ulery added 14 points and 6 assists. Freshman Teagan Moon hit 7 points and senior Julia Castillo contributed 5 points to the balanced scorebook.
The squad holds onto first place in the Desert Valley League with a 4-0 record and moved their overall record to 10-4 with their next game at Shadow Hills HS in Indio on Tuesday (December 20) at 2 p.m.
