Yucca Valley Lady Trojans put up epic fight in first loss of the season

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans basketball team suffered their first loss of the season in the championship game of the Riverside Poly High School basketball tournament, falling to Roosevelt High School 48-33 Friday night (November 17)

Roosevelt used a relentless full court pressure defense to frustrate the Yucca girls into turnovers offensively despite the Lady Trojans holding the Mustangs 33 points below their season average on the defensive side.

Senior Cadence Tarrant was able to net 16 points and junior CeCe Gilmore came through with 10 points while sophomore Lyrics Thompson added 4 points and junior Tayla Monroy hit one 3 point basket to finish out the scoring.

The girls record now sits at 3-1 with the Redlands East Valley High School tournament next up on the schedule with an opening round game next Monday (November 27) against Aquinas High School.
