Yucca Valley Lady Trojans narrowly miss win in second round tournament against Riverside

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team came up short in a second round tournament game by a score of 37-47 against tournament host Riverside Poly HS Thursday night (November 21) in Riverside, leading to an 0-2 to start the season.

The Yucca girls trailed by one point at the half but couldn’t get any closer in the second half as the Bears pulled away in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Senior Syhelie Gilmore led the team with 17 points while fellow seniors Tayla Monroy added 7 points and Tori Simpson chipped in 5 points. Sophomores Kamea Medina and Kennedy Golden both had 4 points to round out the scoring. 

The team will play tonight (November 22) against Rancho Verde HS looking to get their first win of the season in a third round game. Tip off is set for 6.30 p.m.
