The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team opened up their 2023-24 season last night (November 14) with a 72-43 win over Hesperia High School in a first round game at the Riverside Poly Tournament.
After a sluggish first half in which the Yucca girls led 28-23 the Lady Trojans outscored the Scorpions 26-13 in the 3rd quarter to take control of the game and a 54-36 lead into the fourth quarter.
Senior Cadence Tarrant led the squad with 32 points while junior Tayla Monroy knocked down four 3 point baskets and finished with 12 points. Sophomores CeCe Gilmore and Lyrics Thompson each scored 8 points and sophomore Teagan Moon added 6 points for the team.
The girls head back down to Riverside today (November 15) for a second round game against the tournament host Riverside Poly.
