Playing their second road game in as many nights, the Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team used a balanced attack to overwhelm the La Quinta Blackhawk’s by a 70-39 score Wednesday evening (December 14) in La Quinta.
The team had a season high four players scoring in double figures on the night. Junior Cadence Tarrant led the team with 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Senior Malia Ulery added 14 points and 7 steals while senior Ashley Lowe continued her strong outside shooting knocking down four 3 point baskets for her 12 points. Sophomore Syhelie Gilmore came off the bench to score 10 points and senior Jaylie Schreiber posted 9 points. Sophomore Tayla Monroy hit two 3 point baskets for her 6 points and freshman Teagan Moon also added a three point basket for the final score.
With the victory, the girls upped their overall record to 9-4 on the season and they return to Desert Valley League action tonight (December 15) they look to improve on their 3-0 league mark. Tip off is 5:30pm in Trojan Gym.
