Yucca Valley Lady Trojans basketball win over Indio

Kicking off defense of their Desert Valley League championship the Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans basketball team cruised to a 69-4 win over the Indio Rajahs Wednesday evening in Trojan Gym.

Using a relentless pressure defense the Lady Trojans jumped out to a 20-0 first quarter lead against the overmatched visitors as they improved their overall record to 7-2 on the season.

The Yucca girls used a balanced scoring attack to dominate the visitors. Sophomore Teagan Moon knocked down 3 three point baskets on her way to a game high 13 points while senior Cadance Tarrant pumped in 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Junior CeCe Gilmore and sophomore Lyrics Thompson both notched 10 points. Junior Tayla Monroy hit for 9 points and freshman Kamea Medina came off the bench to score 8 points.

The girls next travel to play Basin rival Twentynine Palms High School on Friday evening in an early battle for first place in the Desert Valley League. Tip off is set for 5:30 PM in Wildcat Gym.
