Yucca Valley Lady Trojans basketball beats Desert Mirage 65-19

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team started the new year off with an impressive 65-19 Desert Valley League victory over Desert Mirage High School Tuesday evening (January 3) in Trojan Gym.

The Yucca girls sprinted out to a 47-9 halftime lead using an aggressive defense that led to easy transition baskets on the offensive end of the court.

Junior Cadence Tarrant was nearly unstoppable scoring a game high 27 points despite only playing 2 quarters. Senior Malia Ulery netted 18 points in limited minutes and sophomore Tayla Monroy pumped in 7 points. Senior Ashley Lowe added 5 points while freshman Teagan Moon and sophomore Syhelie Gilmore each scored 3 points. Senior Jaylie Schreiber made a basket for her 2 points to finish the scoring.

The win keeps the team undefeated and in first place in the Desert Valley League with a 5-0 record and moved their overall record to 13-4. The squad travels to Cathedral City High School tomorrow (December 5) for their next league contest.

Tip off is set for 4pm.
