The Lady Trojans Junior Varsity Volleyball Team got their revenge on the visiting Coachella Valley Arabs Thursday night, defeating the Arabs at home, 25-22 and 25-8.
Coach Celeste Hilderbrand said the Trojans had one of their best games of the season; they worked well together and corrected some mistakes from previous games. The first set was close throughout, with the Trojans pulling away in the final few points.
The second set was dominated by the Trojans, who showed off their serving and hitting skills against the Coachella Valley team. Freshman Madison Lazarovitz led the team in aces with three, followed by junior captain Amanda Cruz, sophomore Paige Van Hulten, and junior Briana Adams with two each. Junior captain Brianna Etter and sophomore Peyton Cressy led the kill category with four each. Cressy also contributed two key blocks. Adams had three kills, freshman Carly Brimhall had two, and Van Hulten had two. Both Etter and Van Hulten had six assists during the game. On the defensive side, freshman libero Desiree Loya led with 13 digs followed by Amanda Cruz with seven.
Hilderbrand said, “After making a few communication errors in the first set, I’m proud of the way the team pulled together to get the win and eliminate those mistakes during the second set. Our hitting this game was some of the best we have had all season.”
The Trojans will be playing back on home on Thursday, October 3 against Indio.
