Yucca Valley hosting Morongo Basin Veterans Tribute on November 11

The Morongo Basin is home to thousands of active and former members of the military, and two upcoming programs will honor those who have served.

Morongo Basin Veterans Tribute

The Town of Yucca Valley announced last week that they will host the Morongo Basin Veterans Tribute on November 11.

Held in partnership with the City of Twentynine Palms, the annual event alternates between the two communities each year and honors the men and women who have served our country.

The day’s events will include a pancake breakfast hosted by the Single Marine Program, an array of military and public safety vehicles and equipment, Miss Yucca Valley and her Court and Veterans’ Ceremony led by Mayor Merl Abel. The ceremony will conclude with a flag ceremony conducted by Marines from the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms. Local band Desert Sol will provide live entertainment during a free community barbecue hosted by Yucca Valley Elks Lodge #2314.

That’s scheduled for November 11 at the Yucca Valley Community Center.

Yucca Valley Military Banner Program

The town has one more way to honor service members. They have opened the application period for the 2027 Military Banner Program.

The program features placement of personalized honorary military banners that will be proudly displayed throughout Yucca Valley for a period of one year. Each banner will feature the honoree’s name, official military photograph and branch of service. The banners honor military members who are Yucca Valley residents or family of Yucca Valley residents. Each year, the Town puts up ten new banners around the Community Center Park and Brehm Park.

Applications for the Town’s Banner program are due on November 4.
