Yucca Valley High School Wrestling started league dual matches with a tough season opener Thursday against Coachella Valley High School, and lost, 52-15.
Wrestling Head Coach Patrick Francis said Elijah Nicely and Desteny Carranza Velasquez were able to pin their opponents, and John Cruz walked away with a win. Then on Saturday, November 23, the team headed to the Beaumont Tournament at Beaumont High School where we saw some tough competition.
Francis said, “We wrestled tough, walking away with no wins but gaining good experience. This week showed we have great athletes that need more experience on the mat and a few little adjustments in their technique with a few new moves make the team tough to beat in the future.”
