YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL AND TENNIS RESULTS

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan volleyball teams hosted the Lady Tigers from San Jacinto Wednesday in a pre-season match. The varsity team lost 0-3 sets. Coach Matt Jennings said the team put up some impressive numbers being led by senior Ashley Priest with two kills and three blocks; senior Haley Rayburn two kills, junior Jade Adair two kills; and sophomore setter Becky Messaros went six for six serving, and 12 assists.
The JV team lost 0-2. Both teams, as well as the freshman team, are looking forward to their next matches with all three playing at home versus Indio on Tuesday, September 16, with freshman at 3:15 p.m., junior varsity at 4:30 p.m. and varsity at 5:45 p.m.

The Yucca Valley High School girls’ varsity tennis team lost a heartbreaker yesterday against San Jacinto. A 9-9 tie was lost in points 76-78. Coach Cindy Miller said outstanding players were Aimee Frank and Cionne Longeran, 7-5, 6-1, 6-2; Moriah Goddard and Dawn Rich, 6-0, 6-1; and Aislinn Gueltzow and Christa Jenkins, 7-6, 6-4. In singles, Carrie Scofield won 6-3, 6-0. The next match will be against Twentynine Palms at Twentynine Palms on September 15.
