YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL TROJAN FOOTBALL TEAM SWEEPS DESERT HOT SPRINGS 28-0

The Yucca Valley High School Trojan varsity football team hosted Desert Host Springs Friday night (September 24). The Trojans shut out the eagles, winning 28-0. This was the first Varsity home game in 24 months for the Trojans. The Trojans will host Coachella Valley on Thursday night, the JV game will kickoff at 4 p.m. followed by the Varsity game at 7 p.m.

Coach Johnson said, “This was a great night for a football game on the brand new field. The team was focused all week and motivated to do well in front of a hometown crowd.”

Trojan defensive end Seth Storm recovered a fumble early and the offense scored five plays later on a 17 yard touchdown run by Garrett Slayden. The Trojans added to the lead in the second quarter with a touchdown run by Stephon Rogers, a touchdown pass from Michael Ramos to AJ Carlos, and a fumble recovery scoop and score on defense by Jake Fenenoz.

The Trojans dominated on defense with 9 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 3 fumble recoveries. Garrett Slayden led the team with 13 tackles followed by David Guitterez  with 12 tackles and Benji Casillas with 10 tackles.
