YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL TROJAN FOOTBALL TEAM DEFEATS BANNING ON THE ROAD

The Yucca Valley High School Trojan football team beat Banning Friday night (September 17) on the road, 15 to 6. The JV team won their game 39-0. After losing out on a game last week to COVID issues at Hamilton High School, the Trojans were again forced to pause the program due to positive cases of COVID. The earliest the Trojans could play was Friday night, but with no practice. The Trojans will host the Desert Hot Springs Eagles on Friday September 24. This will be the first Varsity football game on the new Trojan Field, kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Varsity Game highlights: The first quarter ended in a defensive battle, 0 to 0. The Trojans took the lead into the half 7 to 0 after a Touchdown catch from Michal Ramos to Javin Hudson for a 10 yard touchdown pass. In the third quarter Banning ran back an interception for a touchdown and went for the two point conversion,  Malachi Harper intercepted the pass so the Trojans still led 7-6 going into the fourth quarter. The Trojans closed the door after a 30 yard touchdown run by Stephon Rogers and a two point conversion by Austin Dickens to make the final score 15-6.

Defensive standouts were Garret Slayden with 9 tackles and 2 forced fumbles, followed by Seth Storm and AJ Carlos who both had 5 tackles and a fumble recovery each.

 JV game highlights: Defensive standouts are Evelyn Moreno and Paul Cole. The Offensive standout is Anthony Love who had 3 rushing Touchdowns.
