This school year, Yucca Valley High School sports teams were moved into a new league, the Desert Valley League, in which Yucca Valley will compete against schools twice its size. During its last year in the DeAnza League, the Yucca Valley Trojans took home a school record-tying seven De Anza League championship wins during the 2017-2018 school year. Yucca Valley High School’s numerous athletic programs and students brought home many awards and recognitions during the 2017-2018 school year. According to YVHS Principal Justin Monical, the school won a league title in the fall with several teams finishing as Desert Valley League runners-up and two winter teams making the post season CIF tournaments. The boys’ and girls’ basketball programs boasted overall records of 34-22 and 30-12, while the 2018 De Anza League champion track & field, softball, baseball, and golf programs led the spring season. Two students were also honored with prestigious All-CIF awards: Jamila Day for Volleyball and Caleb Robinson for Football.
