The Yucca Valley High School girls’ tennis team competed in the DeAnza League semi-finals and finals at the Indian Wells Tennis Club Thursday, and will be sending one girl on to the individual CIF championships. Singles player Katie Brattain played Rancho Mirage’s number 2 seeded player and won in two sets (6-2, 6-0). Brattain then went into the championship round and lost to Rancho Mirage’s number one player in two sets (0-6, 2-6). Brattain earned second place. She will be moving on in the CIF individual tournament in November.
In doubles action, Savannah Beasley and Kloee Scaccianoce played Rancho Mirage’s number 2 team and lost in two sets, 4-6, 0-6. They then took on Big Bear’s team and won, for third place (6-2; 7-6, 7-5).
