Yucca Valley High School student athletes and three sports teams are being honored by the CIF. Every year, the California Interscholastic Federation honors high school students and teams for academic achievement. To qualify, the team’s average GPA by the end of the first semester must be a 3.0 or higher. Individual awards are based upon sports participation, community involvement, and academic performance. For 2017-2018, junior Daniel Goddard was recognized as the Yucca Valley High School Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Daniel is a three-sport varsity athlete (cross country, soccer, and swimming), president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a member of Associated Student Body/Leadership. He is also the top-ranked student in his class. Boys’ soccer, girls’ softball, and girls’ track and field were ranked number one among public schools in the state. In addition, 12 other Yucca Valley High School Trojan varsity sports earned the team honor in 2018.
