YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING THREAT

A 16-year-old Yucca Valley High School student was arrested yesterday after allegedly threatening to carry out a school shooting. Sheriff’s Deputy Armando Cantu said at 12:25 p.m. yesterday (Thursday, February 22, 2018) Yucca Valley High School received information a male student made threats to carry out a school shooting. Cantu, the Juvenile Deputy for the Town of Yucca Valley, responded to the school for investigation and spoke to multiple juveniles, who confirmed the threats were made. To determine if the student had the means to carry out the threat, Cantu went to the student’s residence and located two firearms. The firearms were seized for evidence, and the student was arrested. The student was booked into Central Juvenile Hall, in San Bernardino, for a violation of Penal Code 422, making criminal threats.
