YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ACCUSED OF ARSON AT THE SCHOOL

A Yucca Valley High School student was arrested Monday, accused of setting a fire in a boys’ bathroom at the school on Friday after school. Deputies were called to the high school about 7:30 a.m. by the vice principal who said a student used a lighter to set the toilet paper dispenser on fire. The flames spread to the bathroom stall divider and caused about $750 in damage. After reviewing the surveillance video, the school resource officer identified the boy, and he was arrested on suspicion of arson and booked at the Juvenile Detention Center. The boy was not identified due to his age. The case will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review.
