YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER RESULTS

Both Yucca Valley High School varsity soccer teams had good outings in their visit to cross-Basin rivals Twentynine Palms on Thursday. The Lady Trojans completely controlled their game and won by a score of 7-1. Stats included junior captain, Chaylin Couzens with two goals and one assist, senior captain Shelby Smith with one goal and three assists, and sophomore Teresa Nava with one goal and two assists. Savanah Rogers, Samantha Gonzalez, and Sabrina Whiting also scored and Vivian Chow added an assist. In the boys’ match, the hard-fought first half ended 0-0. In the second half Yucca Valley stepped up their intensity and created shot opportunities, culminating in a goal by Junior Midfielder Haemish O’Donnell. Keeper Senior Christian Schoenborn recorded his 4th shutout of the season and Trojans won 1-0. Freshman Paul Desilets and Andres Lopez both had good games and that contributed to the Trojan Win.

The Yucca Valley soccer teams travel to Shadow Hills on Wednesday. The girls’ match starts at 3, and the boys play at 5.
