In their first match of the season, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team defeated Xavier Prep 4-0 in non-league play in Palm Desert Friday.
Anchored by McKenna Larson, first half keeper Payton Mayhood and second half keeper Shelbee Howe were aided by solid defense in maintaining the shut out. Macey Decicco, Stefani Huff, Nicole Powell and Riley Vallo all scored goals.
Coach Robert Shelton said the girls’ hard work and training has paid off, and they played strongly as a team.
