YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ADVANCES TO CIF QUARTER FINALS

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans basketball team was able to hold off a tough La Canada team to secure a 64-53 second round CIF Division 3AA playoff win Saturday night in Trojan Gym.

Coach Jess Geeson said the Yucca girls had three players who each had 3 three point baskets. Senior Sara Mills, junior Maliah Rodriguez and sophomore Malia Ulery. Mills led the scoring with 19 points, while Ulery added 18 points and Rodriguez chipped in 9 points.

Junior Chloe McNellie was impactful despite being hindered with foul trouble scoring 8 points, pulling down a team high 14 rebounds and collecting 6 steals. Senior Meagan Lowe and junior Heather Hiday both netted 4 both each and freshman Cadence Tarrant completed the scoring with 2 points.

With the victory the team next travels to Chaparral HS in Temecula for a Wednesday quarterfinal game.
