YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS’ AND BOYS’ BASKETBALL TEAMS LOSE

The Yucca Valley High School boys’ basketball teams traveled to Xavier Prep high school Monday. Coach Matt Jennings said the varsity team lost 27-84.
“There is a lot that our team can improve on and playing this game really helped us see that.” 
Leading scorers were Bryce Mitchell, Anthony Olvera and Junior Rodriguez.
Alex Kulka, Anthony Olvera and Bryce Mitchell led the team in rebounds. 
The junior varsity basketball team won 57-38. Coach Jon Price said JV pulled away in second half with a great defensive effort. 
Blake Silva: 9 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal
Jehu Jimenez: 8 points, 5 assists, 3 steals
Jace Hudson: 8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block.
 
The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team tipped off its season with a tough 57-53 loss at Xavier Prep high school yesterday afternoon in Palm Desert.
Coach Jess Geeson said the Yucca girls, who were down 22-32 at the half, rallied to take the lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Saints came up with big shots down the stretch to seal the win. 
Sophomore guard Sara Mills led the Lady Trojans with 17 points, while junior Coy Smith added 15 points in the loss. The team next plays November 26 against Perris High School in the West Valley Mustang Classic Tournament.
