California has more female wrestlers than any other state so Yucca Valley High School’s Vanessa Contreras accomplished something very special this past weekend. Contreras placed fifth overall—for the entire state of California—at 116 pounds at the CIF State Championships Friday and Saturday in Visalia. On behalf of the Yucca Valley High School wrestling coaches, spokesman Brandon Whitbread said, “Congratulations on your fantastic accomplishment Vanessa! We are truly proud of you.”
