The Yucca Valley High School winter guard, now in its second year under the direction of Tiara George, is just beginning its competitive season. The
group has been rehearsing since December and competed in this year’s first performance last week, and will be competing Saturday in Rancho Cucamonga. The winter drumline, led by Shane Wilcox and Kaitlyn Denison, has been improving every year until last year, when it finished ninth out of 40 teams in its divisional competition last year. Friday night’s performance will be its last before its final performance in Henderson, Nevada next weekend. Friday’s performance is set for 6:30 p.m. in the Yucca Valley High School gym. Admission is free, although donations are accepted to help offset expenses.
