Yucca Valley High School Boy’s Basketball wins 1st Round Playoff

The Yucca Valley High School boys varsity basketball team scored a thrilling 71-65 CIF Division 4A first round playoff win over Lakeside High School last night (February 8) in front of a raucous crowd in Trojan Gym.

The Yucca boys fell behind the hot shooting of the visiting Lancers by 47-33 at halftime and then 51–33 to start the third quarter before they mounted an impressive turnaround behind the scoring of juniors Jadon Pierce and Daniel Mills along with the playmaking of junior Myles Harper.

The Trojans outscored the visitors 38-18 in the second half to advance to the second round of the playoffs for the second straight season.

Pierce finished the game with 28 points and 9 rebounds while Mills knocked in 17 points including four second half 3 point baskets. Harper dished out 11 assists to go with his 9 points while junior Javin Hudson was solid all night scoring 16 points and pulling down 8 rebounds.

The squad will next host El Modena High School from Orange County tomorrow (February 10) in Trojan Gym.
