The 4th annual Yucca Valley High School writing contest was divided into two categories: long stories and short stories. First place awards went to Brenna Foster’s trickster tale “Arctic Hare and Polar Bear” and Blake Hench’s short story “Pisces.” Second place awards went to Larissa Ortiz’s Script “What a Day” and Skye Hanson’s short story “Three Hours Prior.” Third place awards went to Cynthia Steinbeck’s Poem “Tautological” and Lily Brown’s essay “Just Write.” Warren Higgins received honorable mention for the short story “The Hollow.” The winners will receive cash-value awards ranging from $15-$75, which students will receive at their homes later this month.
