Switching to a new league this year, the Yucca Valley High School girls track team girls’ team claimed the first outright championship in school history. The Lady Trojans went undefeated throughout league competition by finishing off Cathedral City and Desert Hot Springs in front of the home crowd. Yucca Valley beat Cathedral City 95-31 and Desert Hot Springs 113-4.
Coach Jay Stepp said outstanding performers were Loryn Brimhall, Emma Mills, Faith Palmer and Haley McGinnes. The boys secured third place by beating Cathedral City, 75-49, and Desert Hot Springs, 82-43. The boys were led by Elijah Ocegueda, Bo Platt, and Joey Rapazzo. Up next for the Trojans is a trip to Las Vegas for the Dragon Invitational at Del Sol Academy on April 6.
