Pessa said a goal was scored by Evelyn Villalva when it was deflected off DHS going into goal. Haley McGinness scored one and was assisted by Rylee Nutter off a corner kick; Loryn Brimhall scored a goal during a penalty kick.
The Yucca Valley High School junior varsity girls’ soccer team won their match Friday against Desert Hot Springs, 1-0.
Coach Dawn Boatman said Cat Martinez scored a goal after receiving a goal kick from the Desert Hot Springs goalie.
“The girls were able to stay focused, playing their best defensive game and they were dropping back and supporting the team. We changed our formation and it helped against the aggressive DHS team.”
