YUCCA VALLEY GIRLS’ BASKETBALL BEATS BANNING

The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team traveled to Banning High School Friday night to make up a postponed Thursday night game and came home with a 49-35 Desert Valley League win.
Originally scheduled for Thursday night in Trojan Gym, the game was moved to Friday night in Banning due to a leak in the Trojan Gym roof which made the court a safety issue for the two teams.
Coach Jess Geeson said Sara Mills paced the Lady Trojans with a game-high 19 points. Senior Angie Reutgen and sophomore Loryn Brimhall each added nine points while senior Coy Smith grabbed a season high 20 rebounds.
The win evened the Yucca girls’ league record to 1-1 and 3-4 overall. The team travels to Indio Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. game.
