YUCCA VALLEY FOOTBALL LOSES TO NUMBER 1 SEED POMONA FRIDAY

Both of our local high schools ended their seasons with losses in first round CIF playoff action Friday night.

The Yucca Valley High School Trojans lost to number-one seed Pomona 48-16 at Pomona. Coach JD Thompson said the Trojans struggled with seven turnovers (five fumbles) resulting in 35 points for Pomona.  It was a momentous year under first year head coach JD Thompson. The Trojans ended the season 6-5 (5-2 in league) and made the playoffs for the first time since 2012.

Braden Brimhall completed 25-38 passes for 281 and two touchdowns.

Albert Montes-Reyes had 10 catches for 99 yards and an interception on defense.

Caleb Robinson added over 100 yards of total offense.

Jesse Meza caught a touchdown and also had an interception on defense.

Clayton Smith added a 54-yard touchdown reception.

The Trojans played well on defense considering the offensive turnovers.

Tayten Shartel, Alex Kulka, Efrien Torres and Henry Soto stood out.
