YUCCA VALLEY FAMILY HOMELESS AFTER EARLY MORNING DUPLEX FIRE

A Yucca Valley family and their cats are homeless after an early morning fire. About 1:30 a.m., firefighters from Yucca Valley, Yucca Mesa, Joshua Tree, and Morongo Valley were called to a duplex fire in the 58900 block of David Avenue. Arriving firefighters found the fire was well involved in one side of the duplex, and the blaze had spread to the shared attic of the duplex. One side of the duplex was a complete loss, but firefighters were able to save the other side. County Fire Captain Mike Westfall said Red Cross was called in to assist the three adults, one child, and two cats. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
