Every year, the Elks National Foundation awards 500 four-year scholarships, and the Yucca Valley Elks Lodge will be taking applications from local students beginning today (August 2). Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…
The Elks National Foundation (ENF) has kicked off the 2022 scholarship year and, beginning August 2, the Yucca Valley Elks Lodge #2314 will be taking applications from local students who may go on to compete for district, state, and national scholarships.
The ENF awards 500 four-year scholarships ranging from $1,000-$12,500 per-year based on academics, leadership, and financial need. The national awards will be announced April 2022.
Students can also apply for the 2022 Most Valuable Student (MVS) scholarships that are for students pursuing a four-year degree on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), at a U.S. college or university next school year.
The MVS deadline is November 15.
Note that applicants must be U.S. citizens who are current high school seniors (or equivalent) and do not have to be related to or a member of the Elks. Applicants must select Yucca Valley Elks Lodge #2314 as their sponsoring Lodge.
The Legacy Awards program begins on September 1 and provides $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elk members. The ENF offers a total of 350 national awards. The application deadline is February 7, 2022. Visit enf.elks.org/Leg for more details and the application link.
