The Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support program, or PBIS, is an advanced school-wide discipline program that uses proactive strategies for teaching and positively reinforcing appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments. While the usual PBIS award was unavailable this year due to COVID-19, Yucca Valley Elementary School was instead awarded the PBIS Community Cares Award. The new award recognizes outstanding contributions of support, care, and efforts to provide support for students, families, and communities during the COVID-19 school disruption.
