Twelve people were arrested in Yucca Valley Friday during a crime sweep by the Sheriff’s Department. According to a Sheriff’s press release, officers from the county District Attorney’s office, Probation Department, and Sheriff’s deputies conducted parole and probation compliance checks at 18 residences between 2 p.m. and midnight Friday, and made 12 arrests for violations including outstanding warrants, possession of narcotics, possession of illegal weapons, driving under the influence of marijuana, and parole and probation violations. A majority of the arrested suspects are on supervised release as part of AB 109, the California Realignment Act. The act requires offenders with non-violent, non-sexual, and non-serious convictions to serve reduced sentences in county jail and to be placed on local supervision through the Probation Department after their release.
