The Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer team traveled away Thursday to play against Coachella Valley High School. Coachella won 5-2.
The Trojans started off slow, allowing three goals in the first half, but recovered soon after with two goals from senior Carlos Rodriguez, with support from the midfield and defensive lines. An assist was given from junior Logan Barth and junior Joshua Pierce.
The Trojans lost with a final score of 5-2.
“We gained momentum in the second half, but it was a little too late in the game,” said coach Adan Mendoza. “The heat also didn’t work in our favor. Ultimately, I’m proud of the dedication and passion the boys showed to the very end. We may have lost, but they still outperformed their own expectations. I hope they learn to believe in themselves the way we (coaches) do.”
