Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer played their first game of the 2019-2020 season at Cathedral City High School. Varsity lost 6 to 0. Junior varsity lost 3 to 0.
Varsity Coach Jorge Rodriguez said, “Our team has improved over last year and our expectations for our team are still high, from tonight’s game we learned some tough lessons and we move on to Fridays home game.” Player of the match goes to Senior Midfielder Seth Nazario. Rodriguez said, “Seth played hard tonight and was very physical, he won his one on one battles, he showed Trojan Pride by never giving up.”
Junior varsity Coach Adan Mendoza said, ” We knew we were going in for a fight and they were not just going to give us the win. The JV team players did well, they held their composure and did not give up.” Player of the match goes to sophomore goalkeeper Landon Gradilla. Gradilla had 23 saves and only allowed three goals.
The boys’ soccer team looks forward to hosting Desert Hot Springs High School Friday. JV game is at 3:15 and varsity plays at 5 p.m.
