YUCCA VALLEY BOYS’ SOCCER LOSES, GIRLS WIN

The Yucca Valley High School Trojans boys’ soccer opened preseason last night with a loss at Xavier Prep, with the final score 0-6 against the Trojans. Under the guidance of coaches Jorge Rodriguez and Adan Mendoza, Angel Ramirez thrived all game with the team’s lone-striker formation. Mendoza said, “We’ve found our flaws from the season and work every practice to improve.”

The Yucca Valley High School girls soccer team came home with a victory 2-1 yesterday in their first pre-season game against Xavier Prep.
Coach Jolene Pessa said the girls held their defensive line in the first half of the game with a half time score of 1-1. The second half they took control of the midfield, which allowed them to maintain an offensive approach, and won the game with a score of 2-1.

Goals were scored by #5 Jade Arnhold and #12 Nicole Powell.
Assists made by #5 Jade Arnhold and #10 Haley McGinness.
Saves were made by returning keepers Payton Mayhood and Shelbee Howe.
