YUCCA VALLEY BOYS’ SOCCER LOSES 1-0

The Yucca Valley High School Trojan boys’ soccer team travelled away Friday night to play against the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles. Varsity played a tough match, but lost by a single goal, 1-0.

Senior midfielder Seth Nazario was named player of the match for his leadership and effort.

“Our team is improving every game and today we held Desert Hot Springs to only one goal the entire time,” said varsity head coach Jorge Rodriguez. “Our team saw great improvement from the last game we played against this team.”

Meanwhile, junior varsity gave away four goals in the match the first five minutes of the first half.

“Once the ball started rolling and the nerves were shaken off, we had several great attacks,” said JV head coach Adan Mendoza, “We couldn’t get the ball to the back of the net, but the team never gave up.”

Sophomore Benjamin Casillas was nominated player of the match for playing smart and thinking on his toes.

The Trojans play home at the Yucca Valley Boys and Girls Club soccer field Wednesday, January 22, with junior varsity starting at 3 p.m. and varsity at 5 p.m.
