YUCCA VALLEY BOYS’ SOCCER DEFEATS BANNING

Yucca Valley High School varsity and junior varsity boys’ soccer teams steered clear of any losses in a league home game against the Banning Broncos Tuesday night. Varsity walked away with a major win, ending the game 3-1.

The first goal was scored by junior midfielder Alan Campos. The second goal was scored by sophomore Tyler Sine and assisted by sophomore Carlos Rodriguez-Santos. Freshman Landon Gradilla marked his varsity debut with the final goal. Senior captain Kyler Harlow was named Player of the Match for his effort, leadership and winning attitude.

“This is a team victory,” said head coach Jorge Rodriguez, “Everyone contributed and the results show it. We look forward to a tough match in Indio on Thursday.”

The junior varsity boys’ soccer team managed to tie Banning, 1-1. Despite having no subs and only ten players on the field, freshman Joseph Garcia repeated his success from the season’s first game against the Bronco’s, scoring the only goal against Banning. Senior Brody Arnold was named Player of the Match for keeping a leveled head and playing a strong defense. “I’m very happy with the team’s performance,” said head coach Adan Mendoza, “We entered the field at a disadvantage, having only 10 players; we did better than expected.”
