Yucca Valley High School boys’ golf didn’t skip a beat in their return to competitive play Wednesday. They hosted Indio High School in their season opener and easily defeated them 216 to 279. This was the boys’ first match in over a year, as their 2020 season was cut short due to the pandemic.
Senior Gauge Kime was the match medalist with an even par 36. He was followed by strong scores from Junior Josh Pierce (38) and Senior Luke Yakimow (40).
Coaches Jason Harvey said, “We are all very excited to be back and get out on the course with each other. The players craved the social interaction when we first returned to practice, but it was pretty clear that this group was going to be highly competitive. Their focus during practice has been excellent and this score shows what sort of work we’ve been doing in these past couple weeks. I’m expecting a safe and successful season.”
