YUCCA VALLEY BOYS’ BASKETBALL SQUEAKS OUT A WIN OVER CATHEDRAL CITY

The Yucca Valley High School boys’ basketball teams hosted the Cathedral City Lions Friday. Varsity pulled out the win 60-58. The JV team fell in a very close game, 64-60.

Coach Matt Jennings said the varsity game was close throughout and some would call it a nail-biter. After some back and forth the team pulled out the win 60-58.

“The guys played very well and executed the game plan perfectly.” The boys’ league record is now 6-4 and they are tied for fourth place.

Braden Brimhall made 14 points with three rebounds; Elijah Roy scored 12 points and had five rebounds; and Josh Perriera scored 10 points with three assists.  

The junior varsity team fell in a very close game 64-60, which brings their league record to 6-3. 

Cooper Hopton scored 17 points with three rebounds; Demar Smith had 12 points, six steals, and four rebounds; and Kaden Bailey and Tua Kakalia put in seven points each.
