In high school sports, Yucca Valley High School boys’ basketball team traveled to Cathedral City for its first league game. Varsity lost 65-74; junior varsity won 49-39.
Coach Matt Jennings said the varsity game was close throughout and was tied at 50 at the end of the third quarter. Yucca Valley had three players foul out with great defense but they just couldn’t put the ball in the basket.

Elijah Roy scored 21 points with four steals. Noah Roy made nine points, and had 14 rebounds. Anthony Olvera scored 9 points and Andre McGee had eight rebounds.
The junior varsity team won, 49-39. Aidan Gamboa scored 16 points and had six assists. Tua Kakalia made 16 points and eight rebounds. Marcos Jimenez scored nine points, had seven rebounds and had five steals.
