YUCCA VALLEY BOYS’ BASKETBALL LOSES IN FIRST GAME OF FOUR-DAY TOURNAMENT

In high school sports, the Yucca Valley High School boys basketball teams began the opening round of the Rancho Mirage Tipoff Classic four-day tournament. Coach Matt Jennings said both the junior varsity (53-36) and varsity (93-36) teams lost to the host school Rancho Mirage. Today, they will host Brawley at home (JV at 5 p.m., varsity at 6 p.m.) in the second round of the tournament.

Varsity highlights:
D’Markis Chandler scored eight points. Noah Roy had six points and seven rebounds. Kris Brady made five points and five rebounds. 

JV:
Kaden Bailey made seven points and two rebounds. Demar Smith and Tua Kakalia had six points each.
