YUCCA VALLEY BOYS’ BASKETBALL LOSE SECOND GAME AT TOURNAMENT

In high school news, in round two of the Rancho Mirage Tipoff Classic, the Yucca Valley High School boys basketball hosted Brawley. Varsity lost 65-57.

For varsity, Coach Matt Jennings said the game was close throughout but the Trojans just couldn’t catch them.

Luke Yakimow made 10 points with two rebounds. Noah Roy had nine points and seven rebounds. Jehu Jimenez and Andre McGee each scored eight points.

The junior varsity team lost to Brawley 64-57. Tua Kakala scored 13 points, with 11 rebounds. Cooper Hopton had 10 points. Adian Gamboa and Marcos Jimenez scored eight points each.

Both teams will play Friday versus Palo Verde Valley at Ranch Mirage High School in the third round. Varsity starts at 3:30 p.m., JV at 5 p.m.
