In local sports, the Yucca Valley High School boys’ basketball teams hosted Desert Mirage High School at Trojan gym last night. Coach Matt Jennings said both teams pulled out a win with a pretty low scoring night. Varsity won 55-47, JV won 55-48.
Varsity’s league record is now 5-4.
Top scorers were Noah Roy with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals; Luke Yakimow made eight points and three rebounds; Eli Roy had six points, four assists, and two steals. Kris Brady scored six points, four rebounds, and four steals.
Junior varsity also won 55-48 and now has a league record of 7-2. Top scorers were Kaden Bailey 22 points, three rebounds, and three steals. Demar Smith scored nine points. Tua Kakalia made eight points and four rebounds.
The teams will host Cathedral City Friday in Trojan gym.
