YUCCA VALLEY BOYS’ BASKETBALL DEFEATS DESERT HOT SPRINGS

The Yucca Valley High School boys’ basketball teams made the trip to Desert Hot Springs to begin the second round of league play. Coach Matt Jennings said both teams came out with a win. The varsity team was up by five points at halftime and secured the 11-point win, 77-66, with some very tough defense. The junior varsity team won easily, 52-31.

Varsity stats:
Elijah Roy: 27 points, five rebounds, four steals
Noah Roy: 22 points, 19 rebounds, six steals
Braden Brimhall and Anthony Olvera each scored eight points.

This victory brings the Trojans to 4-4 in league play. They host Desert Mirage and Cathedral City next.

Junior varsity stats:
Aidan Gamboa: 13 points, nine rebounds
Demar Smith: 10 points
Kaden Bailey: 7 points, four rebounds
