In high school sports, the Yucca Valley High School Trojans baseball team moved to 6-2 in league play Thursday at home, beating Desert Hot Springs by a score of 16-3.
Coach Josh Griswold said junior Jesse Meza had a complete game, striking out 10 batters while walking only one. Several underclassmen had big days at the plate. Sophomore Noah Morones went 2-3 with an RBI, junior Kris Brady went 2-3 with two RBI, and sophomore Seth Snead went 2-3 with four RBI, just missing his first career home run off of the base of the right field fence. The Trojans travel to Cathedral City on Monday for a road game with a 3:15 start.
